U.S.-JAPAN PROGRAMS

The Japanese American National Museum sponsors and facilitates programs that promote understanding and builds relationships between Japanese Americans and Japanese to advance U.S.-Japan relations.

Current programs include:

• Symposia
  Each year an annual Symposium is held alternately in the United States and Japan.
  The 2007 Third Annual Symposium in co-sponsorship with the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership will be held on October 11, 2007 at the Nippon Keidanren Hall in Tokyo Japan. The program will feature noted Japanese American and Japanese speakers.
  
  
• Japanese American Leadership Delegations to Japan
  The National Museum serves as coordinator for the Annual Japanese American Leadership Delegation Program to Japan. The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Japan Foundation Center supports this program for Global Partnership. Each year, ten to twelve outstanding Japanese American leaders are selected from around the country to participate in a one-week delegation to Japan. The Delegates meet Japanese leaders in various sectors. Select members of the Delegation also present a Symposium co-sponsored by the National Museum and the Japan Foundation. Past symposiums have been held in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Hiroshima.
  
  
• Annual Meeting of Ambassador, Consuls General and Japanese American Leaders
  The National Museum serves as coordinator for an annual meeting of Japanese American and Japanese leaders including Consuls General from around the United States and officials from Japan. The meeting explores issues of mutual benefit and develops plans for regional and national programs.
  
  
• Japanese American-Japanese Regional Business Networks
  Business networks in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and New York bring together Japanese American and Japanese business executives for mutual exchange. These networks are facilitated by the National Museum.
